Benefits of Athletic Conditioning

High Intensity Interval Training refers to training intensely for short bursts followed by similar periods of low intensity. Our interval workouts are usually short but intense and burn a large number of calories in a short period of time. These short intense workouts are effective for several reasons.

  • First, they build muscle. Muscle plays an important role in your metabolism. It is a metabolically expensive tissue that causes you to burn extra calories even while at rest!
  • The second reason that interval training is so effective is that these workouts cause you to burn extra calories long after the completion of the workout. For up to 36 hours after the workout your metabolism remains boosted while restoring the body’s systems to normal.
  •  High intensity interval training is also very effective at developing strength and cardiovascular performance. Ironically, the impact that interval training has on cardiovascular performance is actually much greater than that of “cardio”. Cardio, on it’s own, will yield no gains in strength and will likely cause you to lose strength and muscle mass.

All of Virtuosa Studio’s instructors are fully certified adding expertise and functional movement to each class. We limit our class sizes to 12 people, less than half of what other studios allow, as we are committed to personalized attention and maintaining the safety and effectiveness of each session for our clients.
